With buzz surrounding the newest Bridget Jones instalment gearing up months ahead of its September release, Rene Zellweger is addressing the intense scrutiny she was exposed to back in 2014 —which she endures to this day—after fans were shocked by her altered appearance.
“I remember a couple of years ago people were talking about, “Oh, she changed her appearance.’ Does it bother you, does it get to you or is it just par for the course?”; “Today Show”; host Sheinelle Jones asked the star.
Zellweger, who shuns the spotlight in between roles, told Jones that she ignores the online chatter. “It’s not really part of my life. It’s part of the job, that I don’t really experience except when I step into this arena,”; the 46-year-old admitted. “In my home I’m not aware of it. I don’t do any kind of social media, so I don’t see it. I like to have – I guess you would call them real experiences.”;
Zellweger was forced to address the rumours when they became far too incessant to ignore. “I’m glad folks think I look different!”; she told People. “I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”
