If this week’s political turmoil in the UK has taught us anything, it’s that it’s going to take more than a spoonful of sugar to help Brexit go down.
The state of the UK’s relationship with the European Union is in limbo after members of parliament rejected Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal on Tuesday in the biggest parliamentary defeat since the 1920s.
Nobody quite knows what is in store next, but Stephen Colbert had some ideas on Wednesday night’s “The Late Show”, as he believes the UK is heading towards a dystopian, zombie-infested future.
In the sketch which opened the show, we saw clips from Tuesday’s parliamentary vote before flashing to images of a broken Britain, descending into chaos as the post-Brexit apocalypse hit.
Luckily, there was one person ready to swoop in and save the day, the world’s most famous nanny, Mary Poppins. There was no time for singing, however, as Poppins turned her umbrella into a weapon and gunned down the zombies.
“Let’s go fly a kite… in hell!” exclaims the usually good-natured nanny.
A chilling vision of the future.
