Michael Buble doesn’t like seeing his name misspelled.
The Canadian crooner stars in the first-ever Super Bowl ad from bubly, PepsiCo’s line of sparkling water, and People have shared a sneak peek.
In the few seconds we see from the commercial, Buble sits on the floor at a grocery store using a marker to change the “y” on every can of bubly to an “e”.
“I might be Canadian but I’m a big fan of American football,” Buble told People. “I had a blast doing my very first Super Bowl commercial with buble—I mean bubly. Because of our similar names, the brand and I share a special bond. I love how the cans are bold, bright, and full of personality. They’re perfect for any Super Bowl viewing partes you might be having.”
“With this spot, we knew we had one job to do,” said Stacy Taffet, vice president water portfolio for PepsiCo, “get people to crack a smile. And there was one person we knew could help us do it: Michael Buble. With his help, not only do we get to set the record straight that it’s bubly, not buble, but we also get to introduce bubly’s four new flavours.”
Also starring in the full 30-second spot will be comedian Aparna Nancherla, who tries explaining to Buble that the bubly brand name is actually spelled correctly.
