Prince Philip was involved in a car crash Thursday afternoon.

The 97-year-old was said to have been “shocked” but not injured at the time after the incident took place just before 3 p.m. GMT near Sandringham Estate.

The duke was pulling out of the driveway in his Range Rover when the collision occurred, with the car overturning onto its side.

According to the BBC, Buckingham Palace confirmed the crash involved another vehicle and police attended the scene.

The BBC’s royals correspondent Nicholas Witchell said two people in the other car were treated for minor injuries.

A spokesperson confirmed:

The royal, who has been staying at Sandringham since Christmas, was also injured, but has now returned to the estate, Hello!‘s Emily Nash confirmed.

After being checked by doctors, the Norfolk Police released a statement regarding the incident between the Landrover and Kia. The “female driver of the Kia suffered cuts while the female passenger sustained an arm injury, both requiring hospital treatment.”

On Friday, Norfolk Police confirmed the women involved in the collision were a 28-year-old driver who suffered cuts to her knee, and a 45-year-old passenger who sustained a broken wrist.

Both women have since been released from the hospital.

The police also issued a breathalyser to all involved, which “provided negative readings.”
