The ongoing government shutdown continues to illustrate the massive divide between Donald Trump’s demands for funding to build a wall on the southern U.S. border and the Democrats’ refusal to provide any money for the wall.
With an estimated 800,000 government workers still not getting paid after nearly a month, rapper Cardi B has not been shy about sharing her opinion on the shutdown via social media.
This led conservative Fox News personality Tomi Lahren to offer her opinion, mocking the “Bodak Yellow” rapper as “the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats.”
Her dismissive tweet, however, earned Lahren a threat from Cardi, who fired back, “Leave me alone I will dog walk you.”
Responding at the time, Lahren deemed Cardi’s “political rambling” to be “moronic,” adding the hashtag #BuildthatWall.
Cardi fired back, telling Lahren she is “so blinded with racism that you don’t even realize the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much. You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!”
On Wednesday Jan. 24, Lahren appeared on “FOX & Friends” to address her war of words with the Grammy-nominated rapper.
“I saw that video that she had posted and I implied that maybe Cardi B isn’t the person we should be taking our political advice from. It took her a few days, but she responded and instead of arguing about the merits of her political argument, she said that she was going to ‘dog walk’ me,” Lahren said.
“And viewers can look up on Urban Dictionary what ‘dog walking’ someone means but to put it simply, it’s to severely beat somebody up. So we go from a political disagreement to I want to hurt you.”
During last week’s battle, Cardi responded to another Twitter user who asked if she was going to pay for his insurance, explaining she’ll be “paying about 4 million in taxes this year so most likely I am Paying for your insurance ….That’s if your favourite president don’t take my tax money for his wall Mr white bread.”
Meanwhile, Cardi’s clapback to Lahren earned the seal of approval from rising-star Democrat (and fellow Bronx native) Congresswoman Alexandia Ocasio-Cortez.
Lahren also addressed Ocasio-Cortez’s comments during her “FOX and Friends” appearance, saying, “We’ll I’m not surprised at anything Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says, but again, I’m also impressed the way the left does the mental gymnastics to justify it.
“Listen, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on an almost daily basis says that Trump supporters and President Trump himself incite violence and then she goes and applauds and encourages a tweet by a rapper who threatens physical violence against me.
“I just like to point out the left’s hypocrisy because can you imagine if I would threaten to dog walk Cardi B — or anyone else for that matter — as a conservative, as a Trump supporter?” she continued. “I would never get away with that but they’re able to do it, and the left applauds it.”
