Azealia Banks is disputing a report that she was removed from an Aer Lingus flight from London to Dublin following an altercation with a flight attendant aboard one of the Irish airline’s passenger jets, claiming she exited the plane on her own.
In a tearful, expletive-heavy video the she first shared on her Instagram Story (she later deleted it before it wound up on YouTube), the scandal-prone rapper complains that “every time I come into the U.K. there’s always some f**king s**t with these airline people. They’re always starting s**t with me.”
According to Banks, the problems began the moment she and her travel companion boarded the plane, alleging a flight attendant asked her questions she was unable to answer, and then sat down a few seats over and stared at her in an intimidating manner.
“I’m like ‘Girl, don’t stare at me. I didn’t fill out your Aer Lingus work application,’” says Banks, claiming the flight attendant then told the captain of the plane that Banks had threatened her.
“She… lies and says that I said like, ‘Oh, like, don’t stare at me, I’ll sort you out,’” Banks adds. “What are you f**king talking about? I’m from New York City, I don’t say s**t like that… I don’t even use that kind of slang.”
Then, alleges the 27-year-old rapper, the crew crowded around her, “chastising me like some f**king animal,” before she and her companion ultimately disembarked the plane on their own.
“I’ve worked too hard in my life to be cornered by some ugly Irish b***h. They are ugly Irish women here,” she continues, adding that security personnel accosted her and “tried their hardest to get me to say something or do something or freak out.”
She concludes the video with tears streaming down her face, admitting, “I’m really just trying to calm down right now.”
Banks later took to Instagram, sharing a statement from Aer Lingus that apparently confirms her contention that she and her companion exited the plane “of their own accord.”
In the caption, Banks doesn’t add any details about what led to the airplane altercation, but continues to insist she’s the victim.
“People are so addicted to Azealia Banks trauma porn that they hop on ANY opportunity to try and make it seem like my life is all sad and horrible,” she writes. “I’m FINE GUYS! I didn’t get kicked off the plane. I got off the plane on my own. When I got off the plane they kept chastising me and saying they were gonna call the police (for no reason) and it made me cry,” adding, “A b***h has to do what she has to do!!!!!!!”
In subsequent videos she shared on her Instagram Story (which have also been deleted), Banks explains that because she was unable to fly to Dublin, she instead took a 10-hour car drive in order to catch a four-hour ferry.
This isn’t the first time Banks has had issues with flight attendants; back in 2015 she was caught on camera calling a male flight attendant a homophobic slur.
