Charlize Theron says in a recent interview with WSJ that she and Tom Hardy didn’t get along on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Reports say Hardy stayed in character during the entire shoot, even off camera. Theron says the two clashed throughout filming, but that tension may have been integral to the success of the movie.
“From what I hear, he’s not like that on every movie—I hear he’s had good experiences,”; says the actress. “Maybe the movie is what it is because we struggled so much with each other, and those characters had to struggle so much with each other.”;
Director of “Mad Max: Fury Road’, George Miller also chimes in to contrast the relationship of the characters to that of the actors playing them.
“When they first meet each other, they’re trying to kill each other. As the two characters come together… they have to find a degree of trust. And to some extent that was the trajectory of their relationship as well.”;
It all turned out for the best, however, as the film was nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning six. Charlize Theron will next appear in The Huntsman: Winter’s War coming out on April 22.
