James Corden is really getting into his character of Bustopher Jones to prepare for the forthcoming film “Cats”.

The “Late Late Show” host stops by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday where he chats about the upcoming film adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical and admits that he has gone to extreme lengths to fully immerse himself in the role.

“I’m like Daniel Day-Lewis, I immerse the character,” Corden says, jokingly. “So I’ve just been living as a cat. I don’t use the bathroom, I have a litter tray.”

Filming started this week for the “Cats” movie, which is directed by Tom Hooper (“Les Misérables”), and also stars Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, and Rebel Wilson.

Elsewhere on the show, Corden talks about moving to Los Angeles with his family four years ago and how he was afraid to buy furniture because he assumed he would get fired from “The Late Late Show” in a matter of weeks.

“We rented everything… we rented a couch,” he explains. “I was like, ‘I’m going to get fired, and the only thing worse than getting fired will be getting fired and then left with a couch that we’ve got to get rid of somehow.'”

Corden and his wife finally bought a house, and a couch, last year, and he is enjoying his success as a late-night talk show host, though he still doesn’t know what lies ahead for his TV show.

“I still might get fired, I think that every day,” he laughs. “So I’ve no idea how long we’ll do it for, we’ll see how it goes.”

Corden’s next hosting gig is on the upcoming global talent competition reality series, “World’s Best,” which is premiering after the Super Bowl, and to test his knowledge on the “Best of the Best,” DeGeneres challenges him to a game of “Hot Hands”.
