UPDATE: Saturday, Apr. 2 (4:40 p.m. ET) – Trailer Park Boys actress Lucy DeCoutere has issued a tweet claiming that she’s resigned from the series. When one of her Twitter followers asks if the resignation is connected to co-star Michael Smith’s arrest yesterday in Los Angeles for allegedly choking a woman, she replies: “Yes.”;

DeCoutere publicly accused Jian Ghomeshi of sexual assault, and testified at the trial of the former CBC host; he was ultimately found not guilty on all charges.

“Trailer Park Boys” actor Michael Smith has been arrested for allegedly roughing up a woman, TMZ reports.

Witnesses say the Canadian star, who plays Bubbles on the Netflix show, choked a woman at L.A.’s Roosevelt Hotel early Friday morning in the bathrooms located next to the pool.

According to TMZ’s sources, Smith and his female companion began arguing over who he was texting when they overheard the woman scream, “you’re choking me.” Hotel guests who heard the cry for help rushed to her rescue, where they saw Smith “pinning the woman against the bathroom wall.”

Authorities report Smith was arrested for misdemeanour domestic battery and was taken into custody for “a few hours.”
