While the details of Maroon 5’s big Super Bowl halftime show are being kept under wraps, some fans are convinced part of it will involve everyone’s favourite sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea.

Fans noticed that in the cryptic video the band shared announcing the halftime show, an image of SpongeBob SquarePants appears at around the 32-second mark.

Many are taking the image as a sign that at least part of the halftime show will involve some sort of tribute to “SpongeBob SquarePants”.

Part of the theory involves the song “Sweet Victory”, which appeared in the “SpongeBob” episode entitled “Band Geeks”; the cartoon sponge performed the song at the halftime show of a big football game called the Bubble Bowl.

Some are now speculating that the image of SpongeBob is a sign Maroon 5 plans on adding “Sweet Victory” to their setlist.

Maroon 5 have not commented on which songs will be included in the setlist, so ‘SpongeBob” fans will just have to wait and see when the Super Bowl airs on Sunday, Feb. 3.
