Ellen DeGeneres recently celebrated her 61st birthday, so Jimmy Kimmel decided to do something special to celebrate the occasion.
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host was on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Monday and during the interview, Kimmel surprised DeGeneres with one more gift.
“Do you remember, Oprah used to do this a lot before she abandoned us and moved to Hawaii,” Kimmel said. “On Oprah’s birthday, celebrities would make a tape, and then they’d show the tape and you’d just see all these big, big, big stars saying ‘Happy Birthday.'”
It turns out Kimmel had a similar idea in mind, but with a very Kimmel-esque twist.
The late night host got a bunch of people with the same names as famous celebs to record birthday greetings for DeGeneres.
Among the famous names were the “original” Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lawrence, Katie Perry, Rihanna and Ryan Reynolds.
Also on the show, Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson appeared to perform their hit “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart”.
Cyrus wore a tribute to DeGeneres in the form of earrings of the host’s famous coming out Time Magazine cover from 1997.
