The play inspired by Alanis Morissette’s iconic international debut album Jagged Little Pill is on its way to Broadway.
Jagged Little Pill, the musical stage production, will premiere on Broadway this fall. The Broadway news follows Jagged Little Pill‘s record-breaking, sold-out world premiere at American Repertory Theater last summer.
Seven-time Grammy winner Morissette provides the lyrics and music, along with six-time Grammy Winner Glen Ballard. Tony Award winner Diane Paulus serves as the director of the production and Oscar winner Diablo Cody takes care of the book.
Atlantic Records will release an original Broadway cast recording in support of the project. Fans can sign up by Feb. 11 for the exclusive song.
“This process, and what this process has yielded artistically and collaboratively, has been nothing short of a revelation, a balm and an arrival for me,” Morissette said in a statement to ET Canada. “It is a culmination of so much of what my life’s work has been oriented toward. To work with Diablo Cody, whose heart is as open as her mind is bright and brave, has taken this record – which has meant so much to me – to a whole other level of depth, meaning and natural activism.”
“Touching on topics that keep me up at night for how deeply I care about them, Diablo’s at once fierce, sensitive and hilarious voice—and her willingness to stay and deepen the course through this journey of creation has been one of the greatest gifts of my life,” she noted.
Keep your eyes peeled for Jagged Little Pill when it premieres at the Broadhurst Theatre in NYC on Sunday, November 3 with the official opening night performance set for Thursday, December 5.
