The fifth season of History channel hit “Vikings” airs on Wednesday, and fans of the gritty historical drama can expect an action-packed end to the penultimate season (the upcoming sixth season has been announced as the series’ last).

In a sneak peek at the episode, the battle between half-brothers Bjorn (Alex Ludwig) and Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) heats up as Bjorn and his army arrive to storm the gates of Kattegat.

Armed with shields, arrows, swords, and battering rams, Bjorn pulls out all the stops to try and break through his half-brother’s considerable defences to gain control of Kattegat and take down Ivar once and for all.

“My brother, you’ve come too late,” Ivar tells Bjorn from the top of the wall. “Much too late.”
