Last year, the Danish pop group Lukas Graham recorded two new studio tracks at Spotify’s Swedish headquarters. They performed the “stripped-down versions” of their own song “Love Someone” and XXXTentacion’s “Sad!” which they are now apologising for.
The group received backlash over using one of XXXTentacion’s songs who, before his death, was charged with a number of legal cases including assault on a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, and false imprisonment.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed in June 2018.
Lukas Forchhammer, the frontman for the group, took to Instagram to express their apologies for recording the cover and to announce it has been removed from Spotify.

“Our cover of SAD will be taken down ASAP. I had no knowledge of his violent history. I’m very sorry for the pain I’ve caused. Again, I’m very sorry.”
