This could be the year Shaggy returns.

The beloved crime-fighting, ghost-debunking cartoon character has gathered over 160,000 signatures in a petition within one week to make Shaggy the next fighter in “Mortal Kombat 11”.

The ordeal started with a meme of Shaggy with the caption “Like, not bad man… You made me use 10% of my power.”

The post received 3,000 upvotes on Reddit and has since been remade a number of times.

According to Buzzfeed, the origin of the meme comes from a YouTube clip of Shaggy in “Scooby-Doo: Legend of the Phantasaur”, which drew comparisons to “Dragon Ball.”

Matthew Lillard, the actor who played Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, has joined in the plea to make him a character.

At first, he seemed unsure as to why there were so many pictures on him with captions he was sure he never said, like not remembering filming scenes.

Yet once Lillard caught on this was all because of a meme, he was fully on board.

He even shared the petition to get his famous ’90s character made into the next “Mortal Kombat” character.
