Brie Larson trained very hard to get in “superhero” shape for her new movie.
The “Captain Marvel” star is on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday, and she talks about how she got “beefy” for the role.
“I trained for nine months,” Larson reveals, “and then was able to do crazy things. I could deadlift 225 pounds by the end of it.”
As it turns out, Larson and DeGeneres also go to the same trainer in Los Angeles: Jason Walsh.
“The ongoing joke with him – because Captain Marvel can move planets – is that I told him, ‘I just want to be able to move your car,’” Larson says. “‘If I could just push your Jeep then I’ll feel like I was ready.’ And so it happened. There was a day where I did it.”
They then show a clip of Larson actually pushing a Jeep up a hill.
Later, DeGeneres uses the opportunity of talking about Captain Marvel’s pet cat to have a person in a cat suit jump out and scare Larson, getting a great scream out of her.
“I hate cats,” she jokes.
Also on the show, DeGeneres gets Larson to play a game called, “Can Twitch and Brie Dance With What’s Behind Them?”
In the game, Larson and Twitch have to copy the dances behind them, with $1,000 for each dance completed going to charity.
