Groundbreaking rap group N.W.A. will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the upcoming ceremony, but founding member Ice Cube says they plan to break with tradition by not performing during the gala.

In an interview with The New York Times, the rapper/actor explains that “we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on.”;

He added: “We wanted to do it on a whole other level, and that just couldn’t happen. But we’re totally honoured, humbled and appreciative to the Hall for even just considering us, inducting us and inviting us.”;

Reps for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have yet to comment, as it’s become customary for inductees to hit the stage and perform during the annual fete.
