Report: Keanu Reeves Turned Down Marvel Role To Make ‘John Wick 3’

Keanu Reeves is one of the few movie stars yet to be tapped for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but according to a new report it hasn’t been from lack of trying.

According to podcaster Charles Murphy of “That Hashtag Show”, Keanu Reeves was all set to play a key role in “Captain Marvel” but was forced to drop out when the shooting schedule conflicted with that up the upcoming sequel “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum”.

As Murphy tweeted, the “Matrix” star had already been cast in the role of Yon-Rogg, alien adviser to Brie Larson’s character, when he was forced to drop out. As a result, producers “moved SUPER QUICK” to cast the role, which ultimately went to Jude Law.

Murphy is apparently amused by the Internet’s sudden interest in his report, noting in a followup tweet that he’s discussed it “a half dozen times before this.”

Murphy’s report bolsters a previous report, from Variety’s Justin Kroll:
