Keanu Reeves is one of the few movie stars yet to be tapped for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but according to a new report it hasn’t been from lack of trying.

According to podcaster Charles Murphy of “That Hashtag Show”, Keanu Reeves was all set to play a key role in “Captain Marvel” but was forced to drop out when the shooting schedule conflicted with that up the upcoming sequel “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum”.

As Murphy tweeted, the “Matrix” star had already been cast in the role of Yon-Rogg, alien adviser to Brie Larson’s character, when he was forced to drop out. As a result, producers “moved SUPER QUICK” to cast the role, which ultimately went to Jude Law.

Murphy is apparently amused by the Internet’s sudden interest in his report, noting in a followup tweet that he’s discussed it “a half dozen times before this.”
