Patrick Stewart and Gritty go way back, don’t ya know.
Stephen Colbert threw a Super Bowl LIII party on Sunday’s special episode of Global’s “The Late Show”. Colbert was looking forward to crushing some brewskis with Stewart, but he was less than thrilled about Stewart’s unannounced friend.
Apparently, Stewart and the Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty go way back, performing together in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Romeo and Juliet. Gritty, of course, played Juliett, but Stewart has no idea where he got that skull from.
It turns out, the “Star Trek” actor is an absolute fanatic of American Football, urging the athletes to break each other’s bones even during the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Maroon 5 and Travis Scott. The segment appropriately ends with Colbert being “beamed up” to “The Late Show” set.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also briefly crashed the party.
