According to TMZ, PETA sent a letter to the Outkast rapper asking him to get rid of the furs.

“Our hearts sank when you took the stage during the Super Bowl in a fur coat,” the animal rights group wrote. “You have many, many fans here at PETA and around the country who love your music, and were thrilled when it was announced that you’d be involved in the halftime show. Can we please convince you to make that your last appearance in a fur coat?”

PETA offered to help Big Boi “donate any furs you have to people in need,” noting that they have done so with thousands of coats over the years.

The organization also apparently sent the rapper a faux fur coat to replace his real furs.

TMZ says that PETA estimated 25 red foxes were killed to create Big Boi’s Super Bowl coat.

PETA have not yet received a response.
