Kanye West says he is only speaking the truth, addressing controversial lyrics towards Taylor Swift in his song “Famous”;.

West released the song in February as part of his latest album, “The Life of Pablo”;. The song made headlines with lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b*tch famous”;.

Yeezy performed the song live for the first time at the Paradise International Music Festival in Manila on the weekend. The artist then asked if he could perform it twice, describing the track as: “The song that broke the writer’s block for me.”;

The rap superstar goes on to share his feeling on his infamous 2009 VMA encounter with Swift, when he interrupted her acceptance speech: “That night when I went onstage was the beginning of the end of my life… I just said what everybody else was thinking.”;

He then added: “So if I get in trouble for saying the truth; what’s being said the rest of the time? I had to fight for every day of my life when the whole world turned against me for saying out loud what everyone else felt. But that’s the job of an artist, of a true artist…”;

Swift subtly addressed the song in her Grammy Awards speech, saying: “There are going to be people along the way who are going to try and undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”;
