Donald Trump’s state of the union on Tuesday night was easily the butt of jokes for late-night comedians.

On a live edition of Global’s “The Late Show”, host Stephen Colbert poked fun at the 90-minute long speech.

“This was not a particularly good speech but what it lacked in quality it made up for in length,” he joked. “This speech was like watching paint lie.”

Colbert also pointed out Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s muted reactions to the speech.

“She showed great restraint, did not stick out her tongue once,” he said. “She was chewing on it for a while but did not stick it out!”

Jimmy Fallon also took shots at the length of Trump’s speech, joking, “Between the Super Bowl and the state of the union, that’s six hours of our lives we’ll never get back.”

Fallon also joked about some of the rhymes in the speech.

“If you want a president with orange colour,” Fallon said, imitating Trump, “we must get rid of Robert Mueller. I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like the Mexi-cans.”

Fallon also donned a Trump wig, makeup and costume to deliver a “post-show press conference,” giving some hilarious insight into how the U.S. president crafted the state of the union.

“It had excitement, it had drama. The only thing it was missing was Adam Levine’s nipples,” he said, referencing the controversy over the Maroon 5 frontman’s shirtless appearance during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Jimmy Kimmel watched the speech and came away impressed.

“I have to admit, I wasn’t so sure about this guy but all of a sudden I am sold,” he joked. “Trump said we must step boldly and bravely into the next chapter of this great American adventure, and that chapter is 11.”

Kimmel also chided Trump for his anti-immigrant rhetoric during the speech.

“For instance, did you know Mexicans are scary and we need to build a wall to keep them away?” Kimmel said. “Did you know this Guillermo? Trump talked more about fighting aliens tonight than Sigourney Weaver.”
