Melissa McCarthy gets asked about her recent Oscar nomination during an appearance on Thursday’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
McCarthy, 48, who shares daughters Vivian, 11, and Georgette, 8, with husband Ben Falcone, 45, admits she had quite a bizarre reaction to the nom when her agent Kevin called her at 5:30 a.m.
The actress, who is up for the Best Actress award for her role in “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”, says, “I was sound asleep and the phone rang and I was like, ‘Is that the alarm?’ I answered and was like, ‘Is that the code of my parent’s house?’
“It’s Kevin my agent, who was like ‘What are you talking about?’ I wouldn’t stop saying things about codes and I started giving him my code.
“When I realized what he was saying I was like, ‘I don’t think that’s right.'”
She adds of whether her children shared her shock, “I was on the phone and they came downstairs and were like ‘Is the toast ready?’ There’s no possible way to get overly impressed with myself in my house.”
McCarthy also talks about her kids’ love of basketball.
