Sarah Silverman has vowed to never get a mammogram from a male doctor again after an uncomfortable personal experience.
The comedian shared her story with fans on Wednesday, writing on Instagram that she had a “s***ty time” at a mammogram appointment when her doctor handled her breasts without gloves.
“He opened my gown and put gel on my breasts and smeared it around with his bare hand,” Silverman explained. “Then he started talking to me about my chest X-ray (I also got a chest X-Ray) and was pontificating with my boobs just out and covered in gel and cold…
“Finally I said ‘Hey-can we either talk about this when I’m dressed or WHILE your doing the ultrasound? I’m not comfortable with my breasts out just shooting the s**t with you.'”
The “Ralph Breaks The Internet” actress, who revealed she had to have an ultrasound due to ‘dense breasts’, said that the doctor dragged his bare fingers over her breasts while he was using “the ultrasound wand thing.”
“It f**king bothers me,” she wrote. “Again, AS I TOLD HIM LAST YEAR, I said ‘Hey! Do you need to be touching me with your fingers?’ He said ‘No.’ And he pulled them off of me. Then he added ‘I do that for balance.’ I said ‘Well I believe in you and I think you can do with without your fingers on me.’

Silverman added that she doesn’t think the doctor was “getting off on it,” but that he should have been more aware in his position of power that this is a vulnerable situation for a woman.
“For him to be so arrogant that he didn’t even internalize the problem when I said something to him about it last year is obnoxious and probably a subconscious power thing if we’re getting deep.”
She added: “That was my last mammogram with this dude. Or any dude.”
