Chris Pratt promises to help complete the film James Gunn laid the foundation for.
The A-list actor confirmed “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will use Gunn’s script in a sit-down with MTV News. Gunn was controversially fired as director of the film by Disney after old, distasteful tweets of his had resurfaced.
The “GotG” actors — Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Michael Rooker — sided with Gunn in an open letter to Disney. Bautista, in particular, has publicly threatened to quit the project altogether.
Pratt, 39, confirmed he has read Gunn’s script. “Yeah, it’s off the chain. It’s so good,” he said. “I love James and I’m loyal to James. We’re gonna deliver the movie. We’re gonna give the fans what they deserve. It’s in the nature of the Guardians of the Galaxy to get the job done, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Bautista previously pushed Marvel to stick with Gunn’s script despite the director’s departure from the project. It is unknown, however, whether this news will satisfy the face of Drax the Destroyer.
Gunn apologized for his past indiscretions and assured that he was no longer the man he was. It was not enough to save his position at the director’s chair. Gunn has since joined the other team and will direct Warner Bros. and DC’s “Suicide Squad” sequel “The Suicide Squad”.
Production on the third entry in the “GotG” franchise has been delayed to Feb. 2021. There is no scheduled release date for the film.
