Ariana Grande is already a winner at the Grammys tonight, but the singer isn’t at the show to accept it.
Turning to Twitter to thank her fans, the “7 Rings” singer wrote that she “still truly wished it had worked out” in regards to being able to attend.
After a disagreement on what songs she could perform with Grammy producers, Grande pulled out less than a week ago.
She went on to thank those who helped her with her album.
And then thanked her fans for being her “main source of joy and inspiration.”
Grande’s very first Grammy award was for Sweetener, which won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 61st Grammy Awards. She beat out Camila Cabella, Kelly Clarkson, Shawn Mendes, P!nk, and Taylor Swift.
Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich said that they “multiple conversations” with the singer about performing tonight, but Grande said, “she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure.”
Grande was quick to respond on Twitter writing “i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken.”
During the award ceremony, Grande turned to Instagram to share pictures of the dress she would have worn tonight. She posted 6 pictures of herself in the baby blue silk ball gown, writing “when @zacposen makes u a custom gown it doesn’t matter if you’re singing or not.”
