Joy Behar and Meghan McCain have clashed repeatedly on “The View”, and on Monday’s edition of the daytime talk show viewers saw another tense confrontation between the two.
During the episode’s “Hot Topics” segment, the panellists discussed Senator Amy Klobuchar’s announcement of her presidential bid — which took place in the middle of a Minnesota snowstorm — and President Trump’s subsequent tweet about it.
Klobuchar took Trump’s criticism as an opportunity to take a shot at him: “I wonder how your hair would fare in a blizzard?” she wrote.
As Behar discussed the story, she was interrupted by McCain. “This is real,” she interjected, leading an annoyed Behar (filling in as moderator for ailing Whoopi Goldberg) fired back, “Can I get through this please?”
After Behar concluded, McCain dismissed the story as “so stupid, this whole thing is so stupid!”
After co-hosts Abby Huntsman and Sunny Hostin chimed in, McCain spoke up again. “Can I say something now, is that OK?” she asked Behar, who replied, “Yes, go ahead, you may now that I’ve finished.”
McCain offered a sarcastic response. “I have permission to speak now on Amy Klobuchar, we’re all good?” she quipped, continuing, “OK, two quick things, number one, I have friends that were at her announcement.”
She then cut herself off, apparently reacting to something Behar was doing off camera. “Oh, nope, by all means, keep going Joy!”
Behar had apparently had enough. “If you’re going to have a hissy fit, we can’t continue,” she shot back, and moved on to another subject.
While McCain remained silent for the rest of the segment, the same cannot be said for Twitter users who watched the on-air spat.
