Netflix takes fans behind the scenes of “The Umbrella Academy” ahead of the series’ world premiere.
The streaming service invites viewers to “go deeper into the weird, wild and fantastic world of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ in this brand new behind-the-scenes featurette.”
The exclusive sneak peek introduces the show’s superheroes, including Number Seven, Vanya Hargreeves. This character, also known as the White Violin, is played by Canada’s own Ellen Page. “It feels like this very contemporary dysfunctional family amongst a world of fantasy and excitement,” Page says in the video.
Executive producer and showrunner Steve Blackman and the rest of the cast break down exactly what the audience should expect from “The Umbrella Academy”.
Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh also star.
“On the same day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before,” reads a synopsis for the series. “Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his ‘children’ to save the world.”
“The Umbrella Academy” is based on the graphic novels of the same name written by My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way. It premieres globally Friday, Feb. 15, on Netflix.
