George Clooney jumped to Meghan Markle’s defence in a new interview.
Clooney, 57, addressed the rumours he’s going to be the royal baby’s godfather. He also compared the abuse aimed at Markle to the comments Princess Diana had to endure.
The actor joked, according to Australia’s Who magazine, “Oh yes, I’ll be the godfather of the royals apparently,” before adding: “No!”
Clooney continued, “I’m the father of twins, I have enough s**t to deal with – literally!”
The star, who attended Prince Harry’s wedding to Markle back in May with his wife Amal, had been speaking at a press panel while promoting his upcoming Hulu series “Catch-22”.
He then added of the Duchess of Sussex: “I do want to say, they’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified.
“She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself.”
“We’ve seen how that ends. I can’t tell you how frustrating that is, just seeing them broadcast a letter from a daughter to a father, she’s getting a raw deal there and I think it’s irresponsible and I’m surprised by that.”
