Cardi B’s Grammys 2019 look was no easy task.
The rapper, 26, who won the award for Best Rap Album for Invasion of Privacy at Sunday’s ceremony, took fans behind the scenes in an exclusive Vogue video, showing people just how much effort went into each and every ensemble.
In the clip Cardi’s stylist Kollin Carter travels to Paris to meet with Manfred Thierry Mugler with eyes on the Venus crinoline sheath gown previously modelled by Mugler muse Simonetta Gianfelice as part of the designer’s Fall 1995 couture collection.
The fashion mogul reckons, “That dress is worth not being able to walk. I knew she’d be happy to just tiptoe down the carpet.”
After being shown the stunning sequin bodysuit and matching gloves in the vid, Cardi insists she would “die” if it didn’t fit.
The whole process takes two to three weeks, with the camera following the crew every step of the way.
See how they also fit the musician’s award-accepting dress and performance outfit in the clip above.
