Cancer-Stricken Fan Passes Away 2 Weeks After Johnny Reid’s St. John’s Serenade

A cancer-stricken Johnny Reid fan who made headlines when the Canadian country star serenaded her onstage during a show in St. John’s, Newfoundland, has sadly passed away.

Brenda Lake, who joined the singer onstage for an emotional musical moment, was 48.

As Lake told the St. John’s Morning Show (as reported by CBC News), Lake (who had been diagnosed with cancer) was attending Reid’s St. John’s concert but was feeling tired and decided to leave the show early.

On her way out of the venue, however, her cellphone began to go crazy.

“Everyone was texting us and telephoning us and saying “you know you have to come back in, Johnny Reid wants to see you,'”; Lake told the show, revealing she had met him earlier at a pre-concert meet-and-greet.

Lake had clearly made an impression on Reid, who invited her onstage and sang “What Love is All About”; as he embraced her.

“He told me that I have made an impact on his life, that I’ve made him… see life in a different way,”; said Lake.

Lake passed away at the Grand Bank Health Centre yesterday.
