Russell Peters just saved the day in New York City.
According to TMZ, the Canadian comedian, 48, was shopping at a NYC jewelry store this week when a hooded man tried to dart off with some expensive goods.
The action was caught on tape and obtained by the outlet, and in the clip an employee is seen trying to stop the man when he turned physical. Peters and another worker grabbed the perp and held him down until police showed up.
Law enforcement told TMZ the 27-year-old man tried to take off with one of the store’s $150,000 rings.
Peters is listed as a witness in the official report.
The man has been charged with robbery and criminal possession of stolen property.
Other onlookers told the outlet that Peters is friends with the shop’s owner.
