The franchise’s future is uncertain following the exits of writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The “Deadpool” writers were tasked with penning the script for Disney’s sixth instalment of “Pirates” but have since left the project.
“Some say a search is already underway for viable replacement options,” a report from Deadline notes. “Others say the once-proud flagship of Disney’s live-action fleet may be headed to dry-dock for good.”
Some executives, meanwhile, have thrown about the idea of developing a television series based on the Johnny Depp-led movie franchise.
