The newest “Star Wars” trilogy is getting closer to the end, and it’s emotional for everyone involved.
On Friday, director J.J. Abrams announced the end of principal photography on “Episode IX”, tweeting out a photo of actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac embracing on set.
Abrams returned to helm the final film in the sequel trilogy after directing “The Force Awakens” and then passing duties on “The Last Jedi” to director Rian Johnson.
Johnson is currently at work on another new trilogy of “Star Wars” films set in a completely different part of the epic universe.
“Episode IX” also stars Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams.
It’s also been reported that Carrie Fisher will be in the film as well, using unreleased footage from “The Force Awakens”.
“Star War: Episode IX” will be out in theatres Dec. 19.
