Emily Blunt may be playing an Ice Queen in “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”; but this queen is definitely not of the Disney variety.

The actress stars as Freya, the Ice Queen sister to Charlize Theron’s evil Queen Ravenna in the fairy tale action sequel.  With her character’s long, icy white hair and stately gowns, Blunt knew the comparisons to the animated Elsa would be inevitable.  She just wasn’t prepared to meet the biggest “Frozen”; superfan while filming.

“Charlize’s son was on set a lot and he’s obsessed with “Frozen”; so he really thought I was Elsa,” Blunt told Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”;. “And then he got really disappointed because he saw me in my sweatpants one day with the white hair on, and he just looks at me and goes, ‘Put on your dress.’ Like, he was really bummed about it. ‘Put it on now.'”;

Freya has a few tricks up her sleeve in the battle against her rival sister, including a personal wolf-bear at her beck and call.  Since Mother Nature didn’t bless us with real wolf-bears, the hybrid beast had to be constructed out of green screen special effects and a golf cart.  Kimmel jokingly referred to the filming contraption  as “a lump on a golf cart”; which Blunt had to ride into battle, mimicking a swaying motion as if she were astride a real galloping creature.

“So I’m just like this on it, driving at a glacial pace towards the other actors, and I just remember coming towards Jessica Chastain and she was like this, trying not to laugh ’cause she knew if she made me laugh, the whole shot would be ruined,” Blunt recalled. “You’re talking about 50 horses, 100 extras. The reset takes an hour.”;

“The Huntsman: Winter’s War”; opens in theatres on April 22.
