On Thursday, Paramount debuted the first full trailer for the upcoming biographical musical “Rocketman”, about the life of Elton John, played by Taron Egerton.
The trailer reveals the moment he stole the name Elton from a friend, as well as the legendary singer’s romantic life, success, and darker periods of drug use.
The trailer comes after the studio unveiled a featurette the day before, showing how Egerton actually sang the songs in the film, pulling off an incredible impression of Elton John’s voice.
In the clip, music producer Giles Martin says, “Elton said, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron.'”
The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher, who was brought on to complete production of “Bohemian Rhapsody” after the credited director Bryan Singer was fired.
Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard also star.
“Rocketman” is out in theatres May 31.
