The show must go on.
Despite the death of Karl Lagerfeld earlier this week, Fendi, one of the lines he was creative director behind, still went on with their fashion show at Milan Fashion Week.
In what was ultimately his final show for the brand, Lagerfeld went back to his early days at the brand. He started in 1965 but brought the 70s to the runway with double-breasted overcoats and no shortage of khaki.

Kaia Gerber, Gigi and Bella Hadid, as well as Adwoa Aboah, walked the show that had “Love Karl” in his own handwriting above the catwalk.
The programmes had a hand-drawn “F” with a heart on them, with the date of Lagerfeld’s death embossed on the back.

The show notes also included a message from Silvia Fendi Venturini, the granddaughter of the Fendi’s founder and the creative director of men’s wear, accessories, and children’s wear.
It read, “The bond between Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi is fashion’s longest love story, one that will continue to touch our lives for years to come. I am profoundly saddened by his passing and deeply touched by his constant care and perseverance until the very end. When we called just a few days before the show, his only thoughts were on the richness and beauty of the Collection. It’s a true testament to his character. He shall be so missed.”
The end of the show became sentimental as they played a video “54 years together” in honour of the icon in which Lagerfeld draws up a sketch of his very first day at the house.
As head of Chanel as well, the last show for Lagerfeld will be held on Mar. 5 in Paris.
Chanel has named Virginie Viard as his successor at Chanel, but his Fendi successor has yet to be announced.
It is expected to be Fendi Venturini.
