“Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now.. .Welcome to the Space Jam ”.
OK, so maybe it doesn’t have the same ring to it with the number 2 added in, but that doesn’t mean fans shouldn’t be any less excited.
“Space Jam 2” is slated to be released on Jul. 16, 2021, and will star LeBron James in the sequel to the semi-animated basketball movie most millennials were raised on. The film will be released just four months shy of the 25th anniversary of the original.
“Black Panther” filmmaker Ryan Coogler is behind the new production, which seems to be giving all the power the females — female rabbitsm that is.
In the recently released poster for the movie, Lola Bunny’s name comes before Bugs Bunny (but after James).
Does Lola have a bigger part? Or did her reps really pull through for her?
For those not familiar with the 1996 classic (how dare you?), Lola played a supporting role in the film that also featured such NBA greats as Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing.
The film grossed $230 million worldwide.
Not much is known about the plot of the second movie, except that James will team up with Bugs and the rest of the Looney Tunes team.
“Here’s your chance, do your dance at the Space Jam. Alright…”
