Billy Porter Walks The Oscars Red Carpet In A Massive Tuxedo Gown

Known for his elaborate outfits, Billy Porter has outdone himself on the Oscars red carpet.

The “Pose” star stepped out in a velvet outfit that was tuxedo on the top and ballgown on the bottom. The custom dress was made by Christian Siriano who also dressed Octavia Spencer and Danielle MacDonald.

Siriano wrote that is was “an honor” to take part in creating the moment.

During the Golden Globes, Porter wore an embellished grey suit with a hot pink lined cape.

He spoke to Vogue before the Academy Awards about his choice in outfit, saying “I’m not a drag queen, I’m a man in a dress.”

“People are going to be really uncomfortable with my black a** in a ball gown — but it’s not anybody’s business but mine,” he said.

The actor and singer added, “I want people to understand that you don’t have to understand or even agree with other people’s authenticity or truths, but we must all respect each other.”

The dress quickly became a trending topic on Twitter, with the general consensus that Porter “set the bar impossibly high for #Oscars fashion.”
