Michael Strahan’s announcement yesterday that he was leaving Live with Kelly and Michael in order to join Good Morning America took everyone by surprise — including his co-host Kelly Ripa.

That’s the claim coming from TMZ, which reports that Ripa is “livid”; because she feels “blindsided”; by the news, feeling “shockingly disrespected”; by Disney’s top execs for not filling her in on their plans for Strahan. In addition, TMZ is also reporting that Ripa is “furious”; at her co-host for not telling her himself that he was leaving the show.

According to TMZ, Ripa didn’t find out about Strahan’s departure until Disney made the announcement, and never received a call from any Disney execs in advance.

“Our ABC sources say Kelly — and virtually everyone on her show — feels Disney has screamed to the world they don’t care about Live … their singular focus is breathing life into GMA, which has lost a big chunk of its audience over the last year.

Meanwhile, Ripa was a no-show on Live this morning, with Strahan co-hosting with SNL alum Ana Gasteyer — and this may not be an isolated incident.

“We’re told Kelly feels disrespected and humiliated that she wasn’t given the courtesy of a heads-up,”; says TMZ. “Our sources say she may not show for the foreseeable future.”;

According to TMZ sources, Strahan has reached out to Ripa to try to make things right, but she has not responded; at the end of today’s show, Strahan praised his co-host.

“I really want to thank, of course, Kelly Ripa,”; said the former New York Giants great. “Kelly welcomed me here and I’ve learned so much from her. She has been an amazing influence on me and this has truly changed my life… Kelly, I thank you, I love you and everybody else here on Live.”;
