Adam Lambert and Queen had Hollywood A-listers on their feet as they opened the 91st annual Academy Awards with a bang.
Lead guitarist Brian May was the first to appear on stage, shredding on the guitar while the iconic drum beat of “We Will Rock You” played. Lambert eventually joined him on stage to belt out those high notes and pay tribute to Freddie Mercury.
The audience remained on their feet before swaying their arms in unison to the second song, “We Are the Champions”.
As the musicians wrapped up their performance, a giant image of Mercury was displayed behind them, which got the well-dressed crowd standing on their feet once again.
Not only was the epic performance well received by Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars but social media went wild for the explosive opening.
