Tyler Perry is not one to stay hush about his feelings.
The filmmaker was tasked with presenting the Oscar for Best Cinematography at Sunday’s Academy Awards. Not only did Perry present an award but he presented quite a statement for the Academy.
“It is truly an honour to present this award on the telecast [and] not during the commercials,” Perry exclaimed. “Thank you, Academy!”
Perry’s jab was in response to the Academy’s decision to present a number of Oscars during commercial breaks. The Academy had insisted these Oscars would air later in the broadcast but it did not stop a number of high-profile actors and filmmakers from condemning the decision.
“Roma” ultimately won Best Cinematography at the 91st Academy Awards. As of this writing, the film has also won Best Language Foreign Film and is nominated for this year’s Best Picture.
