Justin Theroux has reportedly accused his West Village, New York, neighbour of being a wife beater as their ongoing civil court fight over renovations continues.
According to Page Six, new documents state Theroux heard lawyer Norman Resnicow screaming at his wife Barbara on February 10 before she was seen by building officials with a black eye a few days later.
The actor allegedly wrote, “Because my apartment is directly above the Resnicows’ apartment, I have had the misfortune over the years of personally overhearing Mr. Resnicow frequently scream at and berate Mrs. Resnicow, with some of those instances resulting in calls to 911.
“Although I cannot know for certain that Mrs. Resnicow’s injury stems from the Sunday night altercation 2 and a half days earlier, I am bringing this to the Court’s attention because, by all outward appearances, earlier attempts to go through the police have not been effective.”
The latest news comes after Theroux sued Resnicow in 2017 in the Manhattan Supreme Court for allegedly harassing him over renovations he was having done to his own apartment. He’s since reportedly accused the lawyer of “spying on him, trespassing on his deck, and menacing tenants with farming tools.”
Page Six has since published a statement from Barbara Resnicow, in which she said of her injuries: “On the preceding Friday, Feb. 8, while returning to my office from the gym at lunchtime, I tripped and hit the side of my face on the sidewalk while admiring a cute toddler. This resulted in a bruise below my left eye.”
She added, “As for Norman’s allegedly abusive language, I have never feared for my safety while alone with Norman. I strongly resent Mr. Theroux’s attempt to gain an advantage in this litigation — in essence just a border dispute between neighbours – by spreading poison around Norman and presenting the Court with his skewed impression of our marriage.”
