Fans of “The OA” have been waiting for a followup ever since the show premiered on Netflix at the end of 2016.
Fast-forward to January 2019 and fans can finally take a peek at “Part II”. This exclusive look at season 2 of “The OA” premiered Wednesday morning. Brit Marling renews her leading role as Prarie Johnson/The OA. The new season’s tag line, “NO ONE SURVIVES ALONE” sets the tone for a tense second season.
“The series follows OA as she navigates a new dimension, one in which she had a completely different life as a Russian heiress, and one in which she once again finds herself as Hap’s captive,” a press release reads. “Part II introduces Karim Washington, a private detective tasked with finding a missing teen, Michelle Vu.”
“His path crosses with OA, as they try to solve the mystery of Michelle’s whereabouts and a house on Nob Hill connected to the disappearance of several teenagers,” the synopsis continues. “Meanwhile, back in the first dimension, BBA, Angie and the boys find themselves on a journey to understand the truth behind OA’s story and the incredible realities she described.”
Season 1 of the mystery-drama centred upon Marlin’s character, an adopted young woman who resurfaces after having been missing for seven years. Upon her return, Johnson had scars on her back and could see despite having been blind when she disappeared.
The series was officially renewed for a second season in Feb. 2017 but production on the show did not pick up until Jan. 2018. “The OA Part II” will premiere globally on Netflix on March 22.
