“Sesame Street” is turning 50, and they’re celebrating… InStyle.
On Wednesday, InStyle magazine revealed five special edition digital covers featuring characters from the long-running children’s educational program all dressed to the nines in designer garb.
In a video, the adorable Muppets went to the offices at InStyle to take care of their “fashion emergency.”
The “Sesame Street” characters got outfitted in clothes designed by Marc Jacobs, Isaac Mizrahi, Anna Sui, Rosie Assoulin and Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon.
“The show is 50 years old, so some of the origin stories behind the characters’ clothing are gone with the times, but ‘Sesame’ has always tried to reflect current trends,” the show’s Creative Director Brown Johnson told InStyle, Except Bert and Ernie’s sweaters. You can’t mess with those. They are stuck in the ‘70s, and they are brilliant.”
