The best part? As of this writing, Combs has only released five singles.
That’s right: the 28-year-old sensation has just made country music history. He’s the only artist to have ever topped the charts with five debut singles.
Beautiful Crazy was the latest single to come from Combs’ debut album, This One’s for You (2017). All five chart-toppers come from the groundbreaking country record.
The first single, Hurricane, spent two weeks at the top in May 2017. Each song has since gone platinum. The latest single was RIAA certified triple platinum.
The country chart first launched in 1990, and since then, only two artists had had four debut singles top the charts: Florida Georgia Line and another world-renowned country duo, Brooks & Dunn.
Billboard revealed the exciting achievement to Combs via Twitter on Monday.
Beautiful Crazy is expected to remain on the Country Airplay chart for at least two weeks.
When It Rains It Pours also spent two weeks at the No. 1 spot. One Number Away spent only one week at the top, while She Got the Best of Me — a fan favourite and a staple in Combs’ live performances — lasted a whopping four weeks.
Combs was born and raised in Charlotte, N.C. After finding a deep love for country music, he decided to drop out of university and moved to Nashville, Tenn.
His career lifted off in 2014 after the release of his debut EP The Way She Rides.
Although fans are eagerly anticipating Combs’ next album, it’s currently unclear whether the singer is working on a follow-up to This One’s for You.
Combs is set to embark on a North American tour this spring. He will make three stops in Ontario before concluding his U.S. run in July.
