Carly Rae Jepsen appeared on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show for Apple Music, and the B.C.-born hitmaker talked about her two recent singles — “Now That I Found You” and “No Drug Like Me” — along with her upcoming projects.
At one point in the conversation, the 33-year-old singer-songwriter shared a very cool — and very random — anecdote about once sharing a private jet with Michael Bolton and Seal.
Describing the singers as “really nice guys,” Jepsen explained that she, Bolton, and Seal were “going to some gala event where we had been hired to do different things, so they were making travel less expensive. This was their thing.”
Jepsen’s story then took a weird twist. “Fun fact: Seal ate an entire loaf of bread one slice at a time,” she said. “It was gluten-free though. So that’s good.”
In fact, Jepsen admitted she even managed to take a video of Seal’s distinctive bread-eating style. “It’s in my phone,” she said, explaining her technique for taking stealth videos without anyone knowing they’re being filmed. “It’s really easy,” she said. “You can take a secret video and pretend you’re texting and you just have the phone up. Everyone’s done that before.”
She felt compelled, she confessed, because of “the way it happened… He opened the bread, he removed a piece, he closed the bread, he ate the whole piece, nothing on it. Then he did it all over again.”

Admitting she “had so many questions,” she “figured I would just take some evidence so I could ask a friend later, ‘What do you think is going on here?'”
Asked by Lowe if she thought Seal noticed her covert video-taking, Jepsen thought perhaps he had. “That’s probably why things were a little awkward for the rest of the flight,” she said. “Yeah, maybe.”
