Warner Bros. is bringing back the Tom Cruise hit, “Edge Of Tomorrow” for a sequel.

The 2014 film that starred Cruise and Emily Blunt was based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s 2004 Japanese novel, “All You Need Is Kill”.

The next film will be written by Matthew Robinson of the “Invention of Lying”.

In the original, Cruise is a military public relations officer who has never been in the field but is sent out to join a landing operation against the aliens. Then things go array and Cruise ends up in a time loop every time he dies that sends him to the previous day, he meets up with Blunt’s special forces soldier to help him better his fighting skills.

The first movie grossed $370 million worldwide and earned a cult following. This time around Erwin Stoff, Tom Lassally, and Masi Oka will be producers with Hisashi Sasaki as executive producer.

Neither Cruise or Blunt have signed on to part two, but Deadline reports that they are likely to join once they approve the script.

Blunt had previously turned down Cruise when he asked her to reprise her role for the sequel.

This came just as she was filming “A Quiet Place” and “Mary Poppins Returns”.

“They asked me to do [it] two months before I started ‘Mary Poppins.’ Tom was like, ‘Can you go this autumn?’ and I was like, ‘No, I can’t go, I’m playing Mary Poppins for like a year, dude! I can’t do ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’” Blunt told IndieWire.

Blunt will be filming “A Quiet Place 2” shortly, but IMDb does list her as rumoured to be joining “Live Die Repeat And Repeat”- the “Edge of Tommorow” sequel.
