WWE Star Paige ‘Appalled’ By Critic Who Pointed Out ‘Fighting With My Family’ Star’s ‘Chunky Thighs’

By Shakiel Mahjouri.

Dwayne Johnson makes his Sundance appearance to premiere “Fighting With My Family”, the film for which he acts as executive producer, developer, and star. "The Rock" poses with co-star Florence Pugh along with professional wrestler Paige, whom Pugh portrays in the film.

Paige is not about to let Florence Pugh be body-shamed.

Pugh, 23, plays WWE superstar Paige in the comedy-drama “Fighting with my Family”. The film is based on a 2012 documentary depicting Paige’s professional wrestling career and is executive-produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

A critic for the Evening Standard reviewed the film but is facing backlash for focusing on Pugh’s body shape. “Her character is based on real-world WWE champion Paige, whose legs are significantly slimmer,” wrote the critic. They noted how Pugh had “chunky thighs.”

Pugh tweeted Friday:

Paige could not believe what she was reading:

Another celebrity who stood by Pugh is the often-outspoken body activist Jameela Jamil. “Good point. Well made,” she wrote in support of the 23-year-old actress.

“Fighting With My Family” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 28. It received positive reviews and a theatrical release on Feb. 22.
