Oprah Winfrey, among many other celebrities, is proud of Gayle King following her intense interview with accused sexual abuser R. Kelly.
Following being indicted on 10 cases of aggravated sexual assault, the defamed R&B singer sat down with King for a tell-all interview on “CBS This Morning”, but things quickly turned explosive.
Throughout the entire interview, and despite Kelly’s behaviour, Gayle remained extremely calm calling for many stars to praise her stature.

After sitting down with Kelly, the CBS news anchor chatted with pal Oprah’s O Magazine to reveal what exactly was going through her mind during the explosive interview.
While King had a lot of emotions, she says she was “not scared,” adding “I never thought he was going to hit me. After, Oprah and my kids Kirby and Will called me to ask if I was okay because it looked scary. But I was never worried he was going to hurt me. I was more worried that he was going to get up and leave.”
And knowing that he wouldn’t hurt her, she was able to keep her composure, “I just knew that I was never in danger. I did worry at some points that he might accidentally hit me because he was so angry that he was flailing. But I knew that I wasn’t in any real danger. I just kept thinking ‘Okay, Robert, go ahead’ and that’s what I said.”
King later teased her upcoming interview with Kelly’s girlfriends Joycelyn and Azriel, “To my surprise, they were very angry. At everyone. They feel that Robert has been maligned, that their own parents are lying… that interview is very eye-opening.”
King’s BFF Winfrey took to Twitter admiring the journalist’s job, “Bravo Gayle King for calm and steady focus during R.Kelly interview.”
Adding, “Outstanding job! Tell ‘CBS This Morning’ we want to see the whole thing.”
Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay wrote: “There’s a lot going on in these R. Kelly clips. But one thing that jumps out is how direct, super clear and no frills these questions are by Gayle King. She’s asking exactly what most of us would ask if we were in her seat. Crazy how refreshing it is. Speaks to how rare it is.”

Meanwhile, attorney and victims rights advocate Lisa Bloom pointed out another thing she noticed about Kelly, “To show how respectful he is to women, R. Kelly screams and rants at Gayle King.”
